Patients scaling back on cosmetic surgeries

Cosmetic surgery patients are scaling back as the recession puts a strain on their finances. “People are choosing less,” said Dr. Craig Vander Kolk, associate director of plastic surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.

In a recent survey by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, 82 percent of surgeons said their patients were choosing less expensive procedures, and 70 percent said patients were opting for nonsurgical procedures, such as Botox.
