Allergan battles against Botox tax
Under the Senate’s proposed health-care reform bill, a tax would be levied on popular elective cosmetic procedures like breast augmentation, liposuction and Botox injections to help defray the enormous projected costs of the overhaul. Not surprisingly, companies like Allergan Inc., a leading marketer of breast implants and the wrinkle-battlers Botox and Juvederm, has declared war on the Senate measure, going so far as launching a Web-based petition drive.
