It is a colorless hyaluronic acid gel that contains a small quantity of a local anesthetic (lidocaine) to provide pain relief at the injection site. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the human body, which moisturizes (hydrates) and cushions the skin. PREVELLE Silk is naturally broken down by your body over time. Skin testing is not required.

The duration of results

Prevelle Silk is composed of hyaluronic acid, just like the popular fillers Juvederm and Restylane. The difference lies in the HA concentration, which is slightly lower in Prevelle Silk, meaning the results of Prevelle Silk will probably wear off quicker.

That might sound like a drawback, but it’s not: a filler with short-term results is actually a great way to “test drive” this type of treatment. Dr. Hess says the results of Prevelle Silk will usually last 2 months at most, and if you like the results, you can return for treatment with a comparable, but longer lasting wrinkle filler.

The addition of lidocaine

Prevelle is one of the latest fillers to be manufactured with lidocaine as a component. While the significance of this addition may be exaggerated somewhat in the marketing for these new fillers, when combined with traditional pain management techniques it may enhance the comfort level of your injection. According to the Prevelle website, clinical trials demonstrated a significant improvement over the filler Captique:

You can find more information (prices, treatment areas, etc) about Prevelle Silk Here.

Q: What is Latisse?

A: Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03% was initially developed and used for over 10 years as a glaucoma medication. In using the medication many patients noticed that their eyelashes grew. Many even had to trim their lashes due to excessive length. Allergan, who owned the medication, began to market the medication for topical use in patients with hypotrichosis (small lashes). The new medications name is Latisse.

Q: How long has Latisse been on the market?

A: Latisse has been available for over 6 months. But its safety record, as an eye drop solution, is well over 10 years. Any medication that is used in the eye must be very safe.

Frederick, Maryland — A recently developed procedure is literally changing the “face” of cosmetic surgery in Maryland. The MACS face lift, which was developed by European plastic surgeons, is gaining a reputation in the US as a faster, more effective face lift procedure. Maryland plastic surgeon Dr. Donald Kress, who performs a range of procedures from his plastic surgery offices in Maryland, calls the minimal-access cranial suspension (MACS) lift a “slow revolution” in plastic surgery because it cuts down procedure and recovery times while offering distinct aesthetic advantages over many “traditional” approaches.

“Recovery times and risks of scarring are two of the top concerns for any cosmetic surgery, especially for facial surgery,” Dr. Kress explains. “The MACS lift was developed to address those concerns, and it has done so very successfully. Surgeons are adopting this approach slowly and cautiously, but inevitably. Over 95% of the face lifts I perform now integrate these techniques, and we certainly can expect to see more surgeons transitioning to this approach in the next few years.”

Both traditional face lift and the Maryland MACS lift address the most problematic signs of aging – loose facial tissues that sag and wrinkle due to age and gravity. However, the traditional approach requires a surgeon to create a large incision in order to manipulate the deeper tissues of the face, pulling them in an angle away from mouth and toward the ear in a motion Dr. Kress describes as “aggressive, invasive, and often unnecessary.”

“The fundamental flaw with the conventional approach is that aging is caused by gravity and time, and pulling obliquely is not reversing these effects – only replacing them with a new angle of tension that is very unnatural.”

Designed by two Belgian surgeons, the MACS face lift was developed to address this problem by creating significant changes through a single, small incision and just one simple suture technique. Instead of an extensive incision and deep-tissue manipulation, the MACS lifts uses suspension sutures to reposition deeper tissues gently and minimize scarring and discomfort.

Because the incision and sutures are designed to restore tissues vertically, many surgeons find that the MACS results look softer and more natural than the “pulled” appearance associated with some older face lift approaches. Dr. Kress first came into contact with the MACS approach at an international surgical conference, where he was impressed with its results and sensible approach to reversing signs of facial aging.
